The Big Bad Edit

YouTube.

It’s the new frontier, isn’t it?

I’ve been toying with the idea of starting a new channel for a while now. It would be focused on writing and, in particular, the world of Domanska. The one thing that’s put me off – besides being a massive introvert – is producing enough interesting content to keep people engaged.

When I’ve searched for writer’s channels, I’ve never really found what I’ve been looking for. Often they cover the same writing tips you see everywhere else, or they tell you what not to do, that kind of thing. This will often be mixed in with the occasional writing vlog – which very rarely involve any actual writing. While I’m sure this stuff has its place and audience, it’s not for me.

I want to see my writers at work. I want to have an insight into their process, see when something works for them and when it doesn’t. I think that’s the kind of stuff that will help me grow as a writer. And as a reader, I want to explore more of the worlds they’ve created, meet new characters, discover new stories. I want them to show me.

My hope is that I’m not alone in that. There must be lots of writers and readers out there who are interested in that kind of content. So if it can’t be found on YouTube, maybe there is a space for my own sphere of imagination?

So what kind of content do I have in mind?

Well, that’s where you might be able to help. I’ve got a few ideas I’m working on from an individual perspective, including writing vlogs (featuring actual writing), world-building videos, a look at the things that inspire me, and exclusive Domanskan content written specifically for the channel. But I also have a couple of ideas that would require participation from other lovely folk.

As you may have seen from my latest cover reveal over on Fantasy Book Critic, I’m working on a rerelease of my debut novel, THE EMBER CHILD. This will include a fresh edit, hopefully ironed out with feedback from readers and fellow authors. Considering I need to relearn the story myself, I’d love to capture this feedback in an interactive buddy-read/workshopping type series I can share on the channel. If it proves to be useful and entertaining, it could even be expanded out to other works, whether my own or those of other willing authors.

If this idea appeals to you, either because you’re a reader who enjoys my work or you’re interested in reading it and giving direct feedback to the author, or if you’re a writer interested in getting involved in a video-based writing workshop, I’d love to hear from you.

If you’re interested in this, please fill in the form here and I’ll be in touch.
